B Black Country (2018)
100 Young People, 6 Venues, 5 Shows, 3 Boroughs, 1 Festival
A festival of family-friendly shows chosen and presented by Black Country Touring’s Young Promoters
5thth June – 28th June 2018
Over seven months seven Young Promoter groups (YP’s) across the Black Country – comprising of just over 100 young people – worked hard as a team to make many decisions, enabling them to bring their local communities family friendly events in the 2nd festival co-produced by Young People in the Black Country.
All aspects of this project were chosen, promoted and organized by all the young people involved in the festival.
The groups shared ideas and then collectively decided on the name of the festival. They worked with professional designer, Gareth Courage, on the logo design & branding. They chose the shows they wanted to promote as part of the festival, decided on ticket prices and start times, organised all of the marketing & publicity and decided how the festival budget should be spent!
At their individual events they hosted the visiting theatre company, prepared their venue and they ran the front of house – checking tickets and selling refreshments, amongst other things!

George Salter Academy, West Bromwich
Penn Hall School, Wolverhampton
This 2nd Young Promoters Festival wouldn’t have happened without the help and support from lots of people, so we’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for helping to make it happen…
Gareth Courage for his hard work with all the groups, the arena theatre for hosting backstage tours, Birmingham REP for donating tickets for 101 Dalmatians, Sandwell Lions for donating some very large Easter Eggs, Bostin Arts for their creative workshops to make decorations for all the venues, Queen Victoria Primary & George Salter for hosting meetings with all the YP groups, the companies who will be performing as part of the festival; Rhubarb Theatre, Odd Doll Puppetry Theatre, Noisy Oyster Theatre, Scratchworks Theatre & Oh Productions, all of the schools involved in the project for their time & effort and last but by no means least to all of the Young Promoters for their dedication, ideas, decision making and teamwork.
