Stand-up comedian and writer Rachel Sambrooks shares stories and poems about the hidden voices of older women, her grandmother and being ‘Nan’ age. Warm, friendly and inspiring – she celebrates the witches, midwives, adventurers and unsung heroes that went before us.

Grandmothers hold a hidden history in a world of change - it only takes about 60 to get to Shakespeare, apparently. Rachel Sambrooks’ Gran was a law unto herself and by delving into the history of the most influential woman never to be recorded, she finds questions around working class women, Bake Off and being a phoenix in the middle of a hot flush.  

Expect nostalgia, stories and lots of laughs. 

Option available for a longer session to share the audience’s own family stories that can be added as part of the show in an additional Q and A section at the end.
