Rekindle Project

We are very pleased to announce that we are a partnership organisation on the Rekindle project!

This three-year project is funded by Arts Council England and led by Creative Arts East. We will be collaborating with Sandwell Library Service over three years to bring more creativity and culture into five Sandwell Libraries: Smethwick Library, Central Library, Wednesbury Library, Tipton Library and Blackheath Library.

We are very excited to be building on our long-standing relationship with Sandwell Library Service and to also be ensuring that library users experience the cultural and artistic hubs that libraries can become. This will allow us to reach new audiences in safe and welcoming spaces everyone can enjoy. Not only will we be programming many more arts activities into libraries, we will also collaborate with library staff, building their skills and confidence in making exciting events happen in their library.

The Rekindle project is a nationwide initiative pairing arts organisations with their local library services. Arts partners also include Applause Rural Touring, Creative Arts East (project lead), Farnham Maltings, and Spot On, who will be collaborating with their respective library services in Medway, Norfolk, Buckinghamshire and Blackburn with Darwen. We are also being graciously supported by our strategic collaborators, The National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF) and Libraries Connected, to help us on our journey.

This three-year project is only the start, as we aim to create infrastructure to ensure that arts events will become sustainable in these libraries and can continue to inspire and connect audiences long after the project has come to a close. We want to work with library users to discover what they want to see and change their perspective on what libraries can be.

Keep your eyes peeled and on our social media for more information and to see what events we have planned for our Rekindle venues!
