Promoters Showcase
We hosted our first ever Promoters Showcase on 25th January!
The showcase was an opportunity for our promoters to see extracts of performances that we are excited about, that they might like to book at their venues. They also had a chance to meet each other and network over some samosas and biscuits!
The day began with a welcome from BCT, and an extract from Pepper and Honey by Notnow Collective. This was followed by a presentation about Le Club Social from Genevieve Say. The promoters were then split into two, with Group 1 seeing an extract of Sleeping Seeds by Fox & Rocha and trailers of various performances: Is That A Yeti, Hetty? by Crow’s Nest Theatre, Nature Elly by Barmpot Theatre, The Explorers by Frontline Dance, Holy Cow! by Sheema Mukherjee and Emily Hennessey, Mughal Miniatures by Sonia Sabri Company, and What Happened to You? by Nikki Charlesworth Productions. Group 2 had the chance to participate in BOSA by Notnow Collective - a wonderful performance that uses the latest immersive spatial audio technology to give you the experience of being present with the characters in the story.
There was a break with plenty of samosas, biscuits and hot drinks, during which the promoters were able to meet each other, network, and discuss the performances they had seen so far. After the break, everyone saw an extract from Tongue Tied and Twisted by Peter Chand and PKCtheFirst, which was originally co-produced by BCT. The promoters then split into two groups again, and this time Group 2 saw the extract from Sleeping Seeds and the various trailers, while Group 1 participated in BOSA. The showcase ended with a short wrap-up by Julie McKirdy from Thimblemill Library.
22 promoters attended the showcase, and they really enjoyed it, with some commenting on how excited they were to book some of the shows at their own venues. One promoter from Sandwell Libraries said “Oh wow! What a lovely afternoon. I would like to see them all in Sandwell Libraries. Truly spoilt for choice.”
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended. A special thanks to Notnow Collective, Peter Chand, PKCtheFirst, Genevieve Say and Fox & Rocha for joining us in person to share their work, and to Thimblemill Library for hosting us!
